Research Directions for Using LLM in Software Requirement Engineering: A Systematic Review

Published in Frontiers in Computer Science, 2025

This survey synthesises recent research on the use of large language models (LLMs) in requirement engineering. It reviews how LLMs assist in eliciting, analysing and validating requirements, explores integration into agile development workflows and identifies challenges such as handling ambiguity, maintaining domain specificity and ensuring privacy. The paper concludes with open problems and proposes research directions for making LLMs effective collaborators in the software requirement process.
